How The Beatles Got Together And Released Their First Beatles LP

The Beatles are one of the greatest music groups of all time and any music lover is lucky to have a copy of the first Beatles LP. It is hard to imagine when that Beatles LP was released that these were just four guys from England with odd hair cuts that nobody really knew. Today almost anyone you talk to will know who the Beatles are and probably be able to sing you at least a few lines of one of their many hit songs. What many people, even fans, may not know is how this band got their start.

The Beatles were started by John Lennon. Lennon had been in a band before meeting any of the other members of the Beatles. He had always had a passion for music. Lennon met Paul McCarthy and invited him into the band. McCarthy then invited George Harrison and the Beatles began to take shape. During this time, the guys were simply playing for fun. Whenever they could find a drummer they would play rock n roll music.

The name of the band came about from Stuart Sutcliffe, who was in the band in the early years. Sutcliffe suggested it be "The Beetles" as a tribute to Buddy Holly and the Crickets. The name did not stick. It went through several variations and changes until it finally was changed to "The Beatles."

The band had troubles getting regular gigs since they did not have a drummer. They ended up hiring Pete Best as their first drummer. The band began playing in clubs in Germany. It was during this time that the famous Beatles haircut was born when it was given to Sutcliffe for the group's first professional photographs. The band had started to get popular back in Liverpool, too.

The popularity of the group led to them being signed to cut the first Beatles LP on EMI's Parlophone label. Around this same time Sutcliffe passed away from a brain hemorrhage. It was also at this time that Best was replaced as drummer by Ringo Starr. The group became the foursome that most people now recognize as The Beatles.

The first Beatles LP featured hits "Love Me Do" and the title track "Please, Please Me." After the release of the first Beatles LP the group soared in popularity. They came across "the pond" to perform in the States to a huge crowd of fans. This tour to the States is commonly referred to as Beatlemania or The British Invasion. It was a time of great popularity for the band.

The rest of The Beatles' story is history and is pretty well known by fans. The band went on to record several more hit records. They topped the charts with songs like "Yellow Submarine" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand." Eventually the band broke up, everyone went their separate ways and there was the tragic loss of John Lennon. The Beatles have influenced the music industry immensely. This band and its members will never be forgotten.

The first Beatles LP was "Please, Please Me" released on March 22, 1963 in the UK. This Beatles LP came on the heels of the success of two singles "Please, Please Me" and "Love Me Do." There were fourteen songs on the album. By April of 1964 The Beatles LP was doing great with twelve songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The best selling singles of the 1960s went to the Beatle LP "I Want To Hold Your Hand", which sold almost 5 million. Another record that did well was "Can't Buy Me Love" which sold over 940,000 copies in the first day of release in the US in 1964.

In 1964 Beatle LP sales in the US reached over 25 million. By August 1964 the Beatles had sold over 80 million records around the world. By August 1966 those world-wide sales were over 150 million. The best selling Beatles LP was "Abbey Road", which is also the best selling record of all time and sold over 3.3 million copies in the US.

They came close to beating their own record with the release of "Let It Be" which sold 3.2 million copies. There are many great songs that the group is known for. Each LP they released seemed to have great hits that would carry on through time and remain favorite songs. Even people who are not fans of the group could name several Beatles songs with no problem. Many of the songs by the Beatles were influential. They had deep meaning and were more than just some pop rock music. The Impact of the First Beatles LP in the States

The British Invasion struck the US when the popular UK band, The Beatles, decided to launch a tour across the pond. With the launch of the Beatles LP, "Please, Please Me", the band became superstars around the world. The fans in the US were more than ready to have the Fab Four hit US soil and give them an amazing concert experience.

Before the Beatles hit the US, they toured in the UK. This period was dubbed as Beatlemania for the many frantic and overzealous fans that greeted the band at every stop. The fans were so crazy and out of control that police had to use high pressure hoses to blast the crowds with water to keep them back from the band. The band would soon find that fans were not much calmer in other places.

The release of any Beatle LP in the US was held back and delayed in the first year of the bands success. It took a great demand from fans to get any of the Beatles LP music released in the US. Finally with the release of "I Want TO Hold Your Hand" the band made its debut officially in the US. In February 1964 the Beatles landed in the US to a crowd of fans that mimicked those they saw back at home in the UK. The British Invasion had officially begun.

They performed songs from the Beatles LP live on the The Ed Sullivan Show with about 74 million viewers tuning in to see the performance. The first concert in the US was held at the Washington Coliseum. The band then headed to Carnegie Hall in New York. Finally they returned to The Ed Sullivan Show and then departed back to the UK. The British Invasion was over as quickly as it had begun, but the band made an impact on the US, the fans and history.

Not only did the Beatles LP become a hot selling item, but the band influenced fans in other ways. Beatle style haircuts, or mop tops as they were called, became the most fashionable way for males to wear their hair. Fans rushed to the stores with each new Beatles LP release. People were captivated by the group.

The Beatles break up in the 1970s left fans upset. Many blamed Lennon's wife Yoko Ono, for the band going their separate ways. The truth is probably more about the fact that the band members grew apart. They each started to focus on their own careers as individuals instead of on the band. They all went on to write music, record songs and play their instruments on their own. Despite the breakup of the band, nobody has ever forgotten the Beatles.

The fact that the band was never forgotten and the legacy of the Beatles lived on despite the break up was never more apparent as it was upon the announcement of John Lennon's death in 1980. It had been a little under 20 years since the group first debuted and hit the mainstream, but fans came out in flocks to mourn the passing of one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time. The Beatles will never be forgotten and their music will continue to grace airwaves for centuries to come.

A Beatles LP is Slice of Pop Music History

John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Those four names will live on forever, and to music lovers anywhere the world over, they add up to one thing; the Beatles; the British pop group that took the music world by the scruff of the neck, and shook it full of new life, giving it an urgency and vibrancy that had never been seen before, and likely never will be seen again. You owe it to yourself to make sure that you have at least one Beatles LP to celebrate a musical phenomenon. Great Britain gave birth to so called Beatlemania, the term used to describe the incredible behavior of Beatles' fans who uncontrollably screamed their way through concerts, often drowning out the sound of the band themselves. Above all, the Beatles were fine musicians, and it was the fact that so many people could never properly hear their live performances due to the screaming, that led the band to retire to the recording studios, after performing their last commercial live concert at San Francisco's Candlestick Park. It bought to an end a 4 year touring history in which they performed an amazing 1,400 concerts. If you are serious about your music collection, it just has to have a Beatle LP or two in it.

One of the most wonderful things about this unique rock band was being able to watch them actually develop their musical prowess. If you were lucky enough to be alive, and of music loving age at the right time during the 1960s, you are indeed a fortunate person, who will no doubt be all the richer in spirit for the experience. From humble beginnings playing live at the Carvern club in the British city of Liverpool, to the last recording session in London's Abbey Road studios, their music underwent a total transformation. You can commemorate that fabulous musical journey with a Beatles LP that captures some of their early, raw and exciting music, and some of the more wonderfully sophisticated later tracks that they both wrote, and recorded.

The Beatles were such an innovative force. From their early beginnings as a rock'n'roll band, they covered almost every genre of music that there is, including: blues, rhythm and blues, heavy rock, soulful ballads, the music style of the roaring 1920s, and even the surfing sound. The blending of their four uniquely different voices has created some great musical feasts for the ears, with such stunning renditions as "Here Comes the Sun King" from the universally acclaimed "Abbey Road" album, a Beatles LP no music collection worthy of its name should be without.

The record producer, George Martin, also played a significant part in the Beatles' development. He helped them to introduce some classic instruments into their songs, like the French horn, a string quartet, and a harp. He too experimented with different sounds and introduced innovative techniques such as slowing recording down fractionally, or speeding them up slightly, and even playing them backwards, such as at the end of "Strawberry Field Forever". You can capture all of this wonderful musical inventiveness on a Beatles LP you can own, love and cherish.

Today, the Beatles songs live on, and the even the new generation of kids today are discovering the special magic of what was undoubtedly the best and most significant rock band the world has ever seen. Ensure your slice of pop history by securing your own copy of a Beatles LP.
